April/May Beauty Haulin'

I became very interested in beauty last year with the discovery of the makeup community on Youtube. I have no idea what I used to do in my spare time before; homework perhaps? Now my afternoons consist of hours of laptop time spent looking at makeup, listening to people speak about makeup all the while making a mental ‘to buy’ list. You can see that I took advantage of the Chemist Warehouse half price beauty sale which rolls around a few times a year. In a rarity the sale has continued to spill over to the next catalogue, so get in quick to avoid the mess and lack of colours in the makeup displays. Keep in mind that these purchases were made over a month at different shopping trips, and no, I am yet to look at my bank account balance

First up we have the Maybelline colour show polishes. I am not going to say much because I have a post jotted down to review these in the future, but they literally cost coins and the formula is pretty darn good. The packaging is also quite appealing and the colours are gorgeous. Definitely a ‘chuck in the basket’ purchase(or purchases).

A sale at Target meant that I could finally try some NYX products. To my disappointment stocks were fairly low and I managed to walk out with two very similar looking lip products. The first, the Mega Shine Lipgloss in Beige was a blogger-induced one. Not the biggest fan of lipgloss and the whole ‘wind blows hair onto mouth situation,’ I decided to give it a go anyway and see how I got on with it. The same goes with the Butter gloss, I chose an everyday pink, but I really just wanted to test the formula.

I know, more polishes? The white Sally Hansen was a repurchased, though I am yet to find the perfect white. I find that they go gloopy so easily and need to be replaced often. The second, however, I remember Tati from GlamLifeGuru talk about in August last year. in this video. I can remember a nail polish but not the maths formula I learnt last week. This is a gorgeous blue shade and I am always up to try a new nail polish. Same goes for Rimmel’s Salon Pro in Oh Mr Darcy. This was a purchase influenced by Anna from both the Youtube and blog titled ViviannaDoesMakeup. Her post highlighted how this polish is a dupe for Chanel’s Frenzy, a blogger love that I had been coveting for ages. Still testing it out, will report back soon

I am a massive fan of lipstick and I could not leave Chemist Warehouse without purchasing one. I bought this at the second store I visited in one day. Crazy. I have been wanting this for a while, its basically a beautiful cool toned pink that looks equally as classic as a red lip. And the name, Cherries in the Snow, could it get any more whimsical?

These two I ordered from Asos, but I bought the concealer first and then the CC cream in two separate purchases. I tried the concealer out a couple of times and liked it, so I went for the CC cream as well. I am yet to try the cream but very intrigued to see how it performs. I would highly recommend Asos if you live in Australia and are looking to purchase Bourjois products as they are cheaper than in store, and the shipping is free. Also, I have purchased beauty products from Asos before and they have arrived safely without any damage.

Another Anna-induced purchase. This time, a BB cream for the body. I used this for the first time the other night and I must admit that my orange hands post application scared me. Luckily it washes off with water and my hands were left stain free. As for the body I applied it to my arms and chest, and it provided light coverage with a subtle tint. Like fake tan without the hassle and the staining. Yes please. Do note that it smells like old fashioned hairspray; not so good.

Sorry bank account, I couldn’t resist. I already own the shade Hot Plum from the Maybelline colour sensational vivids collection, so why not get another one? I usually opt for a matte formula paired with a bold lip, but the colours of these are just too gorgeous to pass up. Very happy with this indeed.

I am very picky when it comes to choosing concealers. This is actually only the second one that I have ever purchased, second to the Bourjois one. I intend to use this one on blemishes even though it is the lightest offering, it seems like it will fit my skin tone perfectly. You can only try...

I usually move from one lip balm to the next, not stopping to take to much notice of whether I liked it or not. This, however, is a repurchase. I realised that I love its minty-ness and it will be great for the winter months if I get a cold. Coming it at under five dollars, why not?

A backup purchase of a new purchase. I love it that much. A fast drying topcoat? Nuff’ said. (Actually, I will elaborate in an upcoming post)

Since it was on sale I decided to purchase another. My first felt tip liner and I love it. Not the most black, but it definitely gives the finest line. It gives me my feline flick and lasts well. Tick, tick and tick.

I love the look of a brown liner subtly smoked into the lash line for a bit of everyday definition, so I picked this one up to try out the look. That’s the mystery of beauty shopping, it could be a hit or a miss...

OOTD #2 -Spring Pastels in Autumn?

I know it may seem like a strange outfit choice for the end of autumn, but with all the UK Youtubers I watch I have tricked my mind into thinking we are in spring. Usually I opt for darker colours in the colder months (black, maroon and grey), but I don’t believe a complete wardrobe overhaul is necessary for seasonal transitions. Sometimes I like to break the fashion rules and incorporate my current loves (such as pastels) into whatever weather we may be experiencing. Though the day these photos were taken was gorgeously sunny, I did feel as though I stood out from the Melbournian uniform of black on black. Nonetheless, the beautiful pastels and the sunny weather really did make me feel more positive, and that we were entering summer, not winter. Perhaps I will experiment some more, defy even more sartorial laws and, of course, have fun doing it.
